My name is Victoria Barnes. I’m a distributor for It Works Global, and a total fanatic when it comes to running my business. I have a lot fun, I meet a lot of great people and I have the luxury of working my business anywhere and at anytime.
My topic for today is “A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN IT WORKS DISTRIBUTOR”
I meet a lot of people that wonder what it is that I do all day.
What does a typical work day look like for me?
So I’ll tell you what I don’t do first – I have never thrown a wrap party. I don’t even know what they look like. I don’t travel to give demonstrations or to wrap customers; and finally I don’t pass out business cards or hang flyers around the neighborhood. I’m not saying that anything is wrong with working your business like this; it’s just not something that I have time for or choose to do.
I save a lot of time using the internet to market my business. I keep my laptop and cell phone close by – and my website active and ready to accept order. These are the main tools that I use to work my business. If it weren’t for the internet and technology I would have to do things the old fashioned way, like hanging flyers or hosting events every month. But thankfully I can reach thousands of people with one push of a button and without leaving my home.
Throughout the week I stay very busy. My day consists of posting ads, writing articles, spending time with my family, and constantly introducing people to It Works. Currently I have a 1 year old who requires a lot of my attention, and a 14 year old who I homeschool. Working from home allows me to give more of my time to the things that are important to me like spending time with my family, living up to my full potential and building a legacy for my children. Thanks to It Works, I can be the mom and wife that I’ve always wanted to be. I’m home more often and I’m able to raise my kids.. not daycare or the nanny.
I went from 12 hour work days with 30 minute lunches, to an all day adventure working from home. I feel like I’m getting paid to have fun. There’s never a dull moment and I don’t find myself chasing a clock until it’s time to get off; or worrying about scheduled breaks and approved time off. I don’t worry about upper management – because I am the upper management now. This is the life that I’ve always wanted to live.
Not every distributor runs their business like me. Plenty of distributors pass out cards and host parties. And many of them are very successful at doing so. I encourage you to do what works for you. And if you find yourself doing something that you don’t enjoy do something else. You have a higher chance of quitting when you don’t enjoy what you do. As for me, I promote my business completely online. It’s convenient and when you’re the mother of a screaming 1 year old who I can’t take my eyes off of. I prefer to interact on social media, through email and text messages. I try to make the process as convenient and simple as possible.
In between cooking, cleaning, changing diapers, and running errands I’m never too busy to WORK. Telling yourself that you’re too busy to be a business owner is a horrible excuse. You’ll make time for what’s important to you and excuses for everything else. If you can spend an hour or more on social media then you have time to run a business. That time could have been used to post a quick ad. 80% or more of my business comes from the time I spend on social media. So instead of posting for free – now I get paid to do it. There’s no such thing as being too busy. I was determined to be my own boss and that’s exactly what I did. I didn’t let anything stand in my way.
What I love about this opportunity is that I get to make the rules up as I go along. I’m able to earn a great living and not have to worry about putting on a suit or a show just to get a check. No matter what life throws at me I’m still able to login to my business and make money. I’m actually working my business in a hospital bed right now. I talk about my business to every single nurse or CNA that comes in my room. I’ve made sales here and I’ve built my team. All of this is done between surgery, X-rays and medication. I don’t have to worry about losing money or not having enough sick days. As long as I have my laptop and phone with me business doesn’t have to be interrupted.
I spend an hour in the morning posting ads, answering emails, scheduling follow ups and checking for any new updates or deals. I spend my afternoon driving traffic to my website. And before bed I take a look at my charts and update my goals for the next day. My work days are fairly easy and a lot of fun. Everyday there’s something new, and I work my business exactly how I see fit. That’s my favorite part of being my own boss. I have full creative rights over marketing and promotion. I do a lot of contests for both distributors and customers. Giving people a chance to win free products or money brings a lot of attention to your business.
If you own a business the internet will be your best friend. On my first day of business I earned $500 and hit the rank of ruby – I never even left the house. I sat on my couch (with my laptop) and stayed on social media until I hit my goals. I was so determined to prove to myself that I didn’t make the wrong decision. In my first month I was named one of the top 5 distributors out of the entire company. I also needed to show my team that anything is possible. You can make as much money as you want with this company. The sky is truly the limit.
I love what I do so much that I talk about It Works with everyone who comes in contact with me. I don’t go out of my way to try to sell products or recruit distributors. More than likely I’ll have my phone or laptop and people will inquire about what it is that I do. And when I go out, or when people visit my home they can see the excitement on my face from either earning a bonus or hitting a goal that the reason why will eventually comes up in conversation. A lot of the time I end up getting business from some of these random interactions. Just last month I sold the mailman a bottle of Greens. If you aren’t talking about your business – you won’t have a business.
So a typical day for me is chasing after a baby, checking school work, cooking and spending a few hours on the internet. This is something that I was doing for free for years -way before I became an It Works distributor; and I now I can’t believe that I get a check for it. You don’t have to overwork yourself to be successful. If you make this business a natural part of your life you’ll find your groove and figure out what works for you. But trust me.. you have plenty of time for It Works.
What’s funny is I really don’t feel like I’m working. Everyday feels like a Friday. And what I do enjoy the most is watching this company change so many lives. I have 3 streams of income and It Works is the only business that my 14 year old son can remember or makes references to. He sees how excited am I when I talk about It Works that he’s developed an interest in becoming distributor also. He even loves the greens and wraps. When it comes to this business my whole family gets involved. I’ve never been so happy or passionate about something. To watch my son get so motivated about becoming a business owner is priceless to me. I love the extra income but it doesn’t top what it’s doing to my family.
